In for review a few weeks back came the latest kit from Aspire. The Puxos kit is the latest offering from a company that has brought many popular mods to market and more so the ever popular Cleito series of tanks. I was sent the Puxos kit for review by Danielle at Simply eliquid.

The Puxos Kit With Cleito Pro Tank

Inside the box you will find the following :

  • Puxos 100W Box Mod
  • Cleito Pro Tank
  • Aspire 21700 4000mAh Battery

Pretty normal stuff with exception to the inclusion of the 21700 battery which for me was a bonus, since I did not until that time own a single 21700 battery! Kudos to Aspire for that one! It is worth noting that alongside the 21700 battery you can also use a 20700 & 18650 battery, the latter using the silicon adaptor provided.

First Impressions

The Puxos is light as hell! That was my first thought when I took it out of the box. Sure I had no battery inserted but even with the 21700 battery inside this is one lightweight mod. Not only is it lightweight it looks pretty cool too.

Available in various colours and designs, I was sent a musical themed mod, with a saxophone design how that fits with vaping I do not know. It looks good all the same. Hopefully replacement doors will be available in the future so I can swap this look out for something that is a little more me.

From my first impressions quality is up to the standard of previous Aspire products.

First Looks

The Cleito tank looks completely different to any of the original tanks. I like the look of it on the Puxos kit. For me one thing that stands out as being something that I would not like is the drip tip that is included. It has a wider top than the body of the tip which from previous experience with these kind of tips feel strange in the mouth.

I do however like the fact that it is compatible with the original Cleito coils as I have an abundance of these laying around and they are still some of the best stock coils I have used to date.

The new Cleito pro tank comes with newly designed coils so it will be great to try these out too.

My experience using the kit

From the off I was eager to get the Puxos Kit into action. So I gave the included 21700 battery a full charge and then I was ready to go. The battery goes inside the mod after you have removed the two side panels secured with magnets ( like the Vandy Vape Pulse ). Removing the battery is as simple as taking the panels off and pushing the battery out.

As soon as you insert a battery the mod comes to life. Greeting you with the Puxos start up screen and then a battery selection screen. Depending on the battery you use ( and select ) you will have different power limits enforced. For the 20700 and 21700 you can go all out to 100w whereas using an 18650 you are limited to a still respectable 80w. Given that the included coils are rated 60w-80w using any of the battery sizes will give a decent experience and you will not be losing out.

I have to say I have totally fallen for the Puxos kit and has become my out and about mod of choice at the moment. The lightness of the mod makes it easy to slip into my pocket and not feel like I have a pocket full of rocks on me. The Puxos itself is easy to use with simple menu navigations and enough modes and features to keep tinkering fingers busy for a long time to come. It is easy enough for someone new to sub ohm vaping to pick up and just use without worrying about all the intermediate fun too!

I was most impressed with the new Cleito pro tank. On first look it looked different to the other Cleito tanks, particularly the original and 120 models. The full body glass tank replaced by more metal body work gives it a modern look. But this is just personal preference really.

The coils however did impress due to the performance of them. Like the original Cleito coils I was impressed with the flavour that was produced. The airflow wide open allowed long pulls with no dry hits and great vapour production. It is worth noting the new coils are very very thirsty and will empty your tank in no time at all however this is a small thing considering the quality of flavour. One thing I did notice is that the pro tank heats up a lot more than the previous Cleito, perhaps the fact there is more metal in these adds to the heat building up and not dissipating as easily.

I was using mostly sweet juice in the first coil and found that I got just under two weeks out of it… with a not so sweet juice I have today just hit the two week mark and no sign of any flavour loss yet.

That drip tip though! It is bothersome and I still don’t like it, I am merely dealing with it for the sake of having good flavour coming from it. It feels strange in the mouth but some people won’t mind this I am sure. I am a fan however of the top fill design, it just makes things easy. Slide up the metal band and reveal your fill hole and fill away before closing and sealing the tank. Simples!
